The purpose of the Southwest Junior Golf Tour is to provide junior golfers the opportunity to learn and compete in weekly golf tournaments against the best junior players in Northern Ohio. This tour is for boys and girls, ages 10-18, especially appealing to those who compete on their high school teams or for those who intend to pursue a playing career in college.
The SWGT plays quality courses, awards individual event medallions and awesome crystal trophies at the Founders Cup Championship. Most importantly, the SWGT provides a college scholarship award.
Dear Juniors and Parents,
Welcome to the Southwest Junior Golf Tour! As a tour, we are celebrating 25 years in 2018! In those years, we have touched over 4,500 junior golfers and families. Hopefully, you will join us this year and help us celebrate the magic of junior golf competition.
Our mission is simple: it is our goal to provide junior golfers an opportunity to compete in weekly tournaments against the very best junior golfers in Northern Ohio. The Southwest Junior Golf Tour was created in 1994 to involve junior golfers in well run, highly competitive golf events generally within the southwestern region of the Cleveland area. As always, we will strive to improve the SWGT in an attempt to maintain an organization that is conscious of juniors as golfers and as student athletes.
The SWGT plays quality golf courses, awards each Player of the Year a crystal trophy, and provides an opportunity for a college scholarship award. So come join us and showcase your talent. Play the tour that allows you to mature as a player and as an individual. Our slogan, “Win with us first!” Simply, sign up using the Champion Series forms found on the Registration Page.
The Southwest Junior Golf Tour two years ago created a special competitive and educational experience for the younger aspiring, competitive golfer. Our tour will offer these juniors, not only the opportunity to compete, but to learn the game of golf. Our pros and staff, with over 100 years of combined golf experience, will be on course instructing these juniors in all phases of the game. Also, players will participate in clinics prior to each 9 hole event. These clinics will not only feature golf swing instruction, but include all facets of the game from rules to etiquette. This unique informative format is known as the Founders Series. To register simply complete the registration form, select the events from the Founders Series event forms, then remit fees and forms to the Tour Headquarters.
Again this year, we have partnered with the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour to increase participation among the most accomplished junior players. Our juniors will have two options for participation, one, to register for our tour and play the Southwest Junior Golf Tour events only, or option 2, register for the combination tour option and have the opportunity to compete on both tours.
If you have further questions, please feel free to call Derek Smith at (440) 346-6750 or Dave Moskal at (440) 346-6751. We look forward to your participation. Keep practicing, and maybe, as our motto states, “WIN WITH US FIRST”!

The SWGT is a competitive tour experience for the more advanced player (Champion Series), but we do offer an instructional clinic series for younger, aspiring players (Founders Series). The ideal junior player who competes in the Champion Series should have experience with USGA official golf rules, understand golf etiquette completely, and be aware of time management skills. The junior player who registers for the Founders Series events should have some golf experience and is willing to learn. The following score criteria is a guideline for registration in this tour.
BOYS 15-18: 18 HOLE SCORE of 95 or below
BOYS 14-under: 18 HOLE SCORE of 104 or below

BOYS 13-under: 9 HOLE SCORE of 65 or below

Is there a 18 hole target time goal?
Yes, we are in the business of teaching and educating our youth with respect to the pace of play. Our goal is a 4 hour 15 minute for an 18 hole round. There is no stopping between nines for lunch. Players should bring healthy food to eat while playing. We do supply fruit, gatorade, and simple nutritional bars throughout the round.
What days of the week are tournaments?
We conduct most of our events on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. Tee times are at 7:30 AM for the oldest players and we generally use the wave system (both tees). All players will be off before 9:30 AM at each event.
Are spectators allowed?
Yes, spectators are allowed at all tour events that the golf courses allow. A spectator policy will be enforced!
Can cancelled event fees be used for upcoming tournaments?
No, the tour has an explicit cancellation policy viewable on the Tour Policy page. Simply, we must have a form returned with the applicable fee.

Please understand that inclement weather in your area doesn’t mean the weather is inclement at the tournament site. In the event of severe weather, an event may be shortened to nine holes. How many events can I play?
You can play in as many as you like, including the Founders Cup Championship at Medina Country Club provided you have completed, paid for, and followed all the registration procedures. The only invitational event is the Joe Haase Cup.
