Mother Nature tried to stop the Southwest Junior Golf Tour today but she only slowed it down a bit. After about an hour delay the tour was able to complete a full round of competition today as the skies cleared some and the rain stop falling. A tip of the hat to the staff at Valleaire GC that worked extremely well with the tour today during the weather delay and a big TIP OF THE HAT to the members of the Southwest Junior Golf Tour that conducted themselves as wonderful young men and ladies during the delay!! Lastly, Pizza Day is always awesome!!!
Connor Thomas, Medina 73 fired a 1-over par round to capture medalist honors and claim the top spot in the Player of the Year race. Lukas Vollman, Hinckley 80 using some home course knowledge and the luck of a scorecard playoff took second place as Blake Shienkaruk, Medina 80 had to settle for third. Alex Fehlan, Wellington 81 stayed steady and patient as the putts just would not fall today for fourth place. Chase Capela, Litchfield 83 and
Luke Seelie, N. Olmsted 83 rounded out the top 5. Great patience by all early on and wonderful effort all around!
Rachel Hetman, N. Olmsted 93 used some big drives and key putts to place first today. Makayla Sheehan, Rocky River 96 took second place by virtue of winning a score card playoff against 3 other players. Madison Debnar, Medina 96 took third place once a hole by hole matching of cards took place. Molly DuPerow, Strongsville 96, and Shannon Sullivan, Westlake 96 shared fourth place. Course was playing longer than normal due to the rain so short games were on display and some good chipping and putting was the difference from position to another. Great work ladies.
Jarrett Nowak, N. Royalton 85 used a solid wedge game to save just enough strokes during his round to take home medalist honors and the top spot in the POY race. Kevin Gordon, N. Royalton 89 did what he could to put pressure on Jarrett but came up a little short and settled for second place. Clayton Greiner, Brunswick 92 played his steady game and found third place while Mark Sowers, Brecksville 96 made a few more putts than normal and captured fourth place. Outstanding effort today gentlemen! The Player of Year race is getting a little tighter and a whole lot more interesting. Good luck!
Griffin Hrabak, Medina 46 did not have his A game on the par 5’s today but was still good enough to be medalist. Justin Kundra, Broadview Hts. 49 hit a few big drives that kept him in the game and into second place. Chase Coleman, Middleburg Hts. 53 and AJ Marcinko, Independence 57 rounded out the top 4 places. Parker Phillips moved into the top spot for POY with 260 points. followed closely by Griffin at 240 and Alex Hedden at 235. The Founders Cup Championship is going to be exciting!!!
Emily Krutkiewicz, Medina 48 stayed patient and focused under tough conditions. Long delay and wet ground that made all facets of the game more difficult but Emily still found the top spot. Aubrie Rush, Avon 55 did what she could to make a game of it and took home second place. Brenna Groh, N. Royalton 60 making her tour debut held her own as she managed her way through unfamiliar territory to third place. Sidney Frazier, Medina 68 and Grace Bandwen, Sharon Twp. 71 rounded out the top 5. Great work today ladies!!
