Southwest Junior Golf Tour
Event #8/#6 Pleasant Valley GC
Monday July 10th, 2017
Par 36 Yardage 3557
“Error on the side of caution” was the theme today and possibly the rest of the week as the weather forecast does not seem to be favor outside activities. The Southwest Junior Golf Tour will always keep the safety and wellbeing of its members as its top priority. If an event has to be shortened to ensure that our members can participate in the next event then that is what will be done. Radar showed two large systems of yellow and red, indicating heavy rains and lightening that made the decision to shorten the event a prudent one. Some new faces arrived on the wet scene today and made a splash! Many familiar faces were on the dark and gloomy scene today and reminded us that the Player of the Year is still in their sights!!
Connor Thomas, Medina 36 made three birdies as the rains fell for an even par round and medalist honors. Alex Fehlan, Wellington 38 and Connor Flynn, Bay Village 38 duked it out in a scorecard playoff for second which Alex took with a 5 on the first hole. Liam Chambers, Westlake 39, Chase Capela, Litchfield 39, Jacob Henyey, Brecksville 39, Adam Cook, Amherst 39, and Cameron Jean, Medina 39 all shot, what seems to be “par” for the SWGT today and a 5 way tie for 4th place. Connor jumps back into the top spot, in the POY race, with his win today. With three events in the next 6 days someone could take control of the race or The Founders Cup Championship could be the showdown that it has become the last several years. Good luck to all!!
Molly DuPerow, Strongsville 42 gets her first win of the season in her tour debut and she won the proximity prize. A very good first day! Isabella Goyette, Medina 43 continued her strong play and took second place. Makayla Sheehan, Rocky River 44 returned from a short break from the tour and secured third place. Madison Gardner, Avon 45
snd Shannon Sullivan, Westlake 45 from themselves just a shot off the pace and shred fourth place. Rounded out the top 6 were Madeline Mindzora, Independence 46, and Alessandra Goyette, Medina 46 Wonderful playing today ladies in some trying weather to begin the round!
Cameron Addington, Avon Lake 41 used some steady play and big tee shots to take home medalist honors today. Jarrett Nowak, N. Royalton 43 tried to keep pace but came up a jus bit short and had to settle for second place. Kevin Gordon, N. Royalton 45 made a few key putts on his way to third place. Clayton Greiner, Brunswick 46, Christian Lewandowski, Akron 50, and Mark Sowers, Brecksville 51 rounded out the top 6 spots. Course played long due to the rain and the rain made playing a real chore today. Gentlemen you showed great patience and focus out there during a very trying round of golf!
Founder Series Event #6 (6 holes/par 24)
Griffin Harabak, Medina 32 was able to hold off AJ Marcinko, Independence 35 for medalist honors. While Max Gargano, Medina 36 made a couple of clutch putts to secure third place. Justin Kundra, Broadview Hts. 37 and Parker Phillips, Medina 42 rounded out the top 5. Great work gentlemen, especially during the clinic after the round. A lot of good work done during this time!!
Emily Krutkiewicz, Medina 33 continued her winning ways with another solid round of golf! Long drives and solid putting are good keys to low scoring and Emily does both! Grace Bandwen, Sharon Township 46 was able to take second place today as she dodged the rain drops and stayed focused during rain mess of a round of golf today. Great effort today ladies!
