Southwest Junior Golf Tour
Event #6 Western Rodeo
Forest Hills/Grey Hawk GC
Tuesday-Wednesday June 27th-28th, 2017
Par 70/72 Yardage 6316/6687
Without a doubt, the largest temperature difference from one 7:30am starting time and the next day 7:30am starting time in Southwest Junior Golf Tour history. Tuesday start temp…54 degrees, no sun and a wind chill of 48 degrees. Wednesday start temp…68 degrees, no wind and sunshine!!! The cooler temps must have kept tour member’s focus on the course as the scores for day 2 of the Western Rodeo at Grey Hawk soared!! The wind did pick up during the day and the mixture of sand, water, and distance made day 2 a bit different than day 1 at Forest Hills GC.
Jimmy Clark, N. Olmsted 71-80 151 took a few risks during day 2’s round but not enough to lose his hold on the top spot. Logan Bratsch, Olmsted Falls 77-82 159 used his strength and consistency to take second place. Adam Cook, Amherst 80-83 163 stayed steady and undeterred even after two “snowmen” found their way on to his card to take third place. Player of the Year points leader Connor Thomas, Medina 80-85 165 secured fourth place over
Jimmy Tyler, Brecksville 84-81 165 after winning a scorecard playoff. Rounding out the top 6 were a trio of Player of the Year contenders. John Galik, Brecksville 80-87 167, Luke Seelie, N. Olmsted 80-87 167, and Ross Williamson, Medina 80-87 167. Outstanding work the last two days gentlemen!
Bailey Hamilton, N. Royalton 78-91 169
Isabella Goyette, Medina 92-86 178 came on strong during round #2 and captured another SWGT title. Rachel Hetman, N. Olmsted 91-96 187 tried to keep pace but a couple of errant shots that did not find dry land made dropped her into second place. Devon Matson, Brunswick 93-98 191 made a couple of key putts over the last couple of holes to hold onto third place. Alessandra Goyette, Medina 100-92 192 and Paige Rider, N. Royalton 102-95 197 rounded out the top 5. These two days both weather wise and course wise will make the difference in late September when these ladies are competing at Sectionals and Districts tournaments. Great work ladies!
Max Nepomuceno, Avon Lake 85-85 170 stayed rock solid for two days and captured his first SWGT title. Jarrett Nowak, N. Royalton 90-82 172 fired the low round of the day for this age division and moved into second place.
Colin Myslenski, Richfield 82-91 173 looking for back to back SWGT titles fell a little short today but took home third place after winning a scorecard playoff over Jack Vichill, Westlake 86-87 173. Rounding out the top 8 spots were Cameron Addington, Avon Lake 86-93 179, Kevin Gordon, N. Royalton 88-99 187, Clayton Greiner, Brunswick 88-94 182 and Mark Sowers, Brecksville 113-111 224. Wonderful play and sportsmanship today gentlemen!
Founders Series (Grey Hawk GC)
Andrew Osowski, N. Royalton 53 made a few more putts than most and took medalist honors today. Daniel McKee, N. Royalton 57 made a couple of good chips to help secure second place. Alex Hedden, Hinckley 67 and Parker Phillips, Medina 70 rounded out the top four spots. Long course, lots of sand and water made for a very challenging day that all handled well!!
Emily Krutkiewicz, Medina 43 drove the ball extremely well and made a key par putt to secure another SWGT title. Hannah Stasiowski, Medina 51 gave it all she had and put up a great fight to find herself in second place. Sidney Frazier, Medina 63, Stella Burns, Medina 70, and Payton Phillips, Medina 77 rounded out the top 5 spots. Coach Joe is extremely impressed with everyone’s improvement over these last few weeks.
