The wind blew and the wind blew but it did not deter Southwest Junior Golf Tour members! They hit it high down wind, they hit low against the wind, and then they found a way to get the ball in the hole!. Columbia Hills CC was in fantastic shape and its staff did it all it could to make event #6 of this year’s season a smashing success!!
Cameron Jean, Medina 78 made his tour debut this season and took home medalist honors. Steady nerves on the greens helped to secure the victory. Jess Saunders, Fairview carded a 79 to finish second and third place belonged to Ross Williamson, Medina 80 after winning a scorecard playoff against Logan Bratsch, Olmsted Falls 80.
Alec Matej, N. Ridgeville 81, Adam Cook, Amherst 81, and Carson Wirebaugh, Medina 81tied for fifth with their 81’s. The temperature was a bit cool but your play was hot! Great stuff gentlemen. Special thanks to Derek Smith, SWGT alum, now a Junior at John Carroll University for coming out and supporting the today’s tour members.
Alyson Kovach, Strongsville 85 stayed steady all day, even through an equipment malfunction that made the back nine more interesting to be medalist today. Makayla Sheehan, Rocky River 99, making her 2017 tour debut shook off some of the rust and captured second place. Madeline Mindzora, Independence 104, a familiar face atop the leader board this season so far took home third. Great fun today ladies!!
The top 3 spots in this age group went to three fresh faces on the tour this season. Colin Myslenski, Richfield 79 was the medalist. Followed closely by Zach Hazard, Olmsted Falls 80. Securing third place was Max Nepomuceno, Avon Lake 82. Jarrett Nowak, N. Royalton 87, Jack Vichill, Westlake 90, and Cameron Addington, Avon Lake 90 rounded out the top 5. This new crop of golfers may make the Player of the Year race a little more interesting. July is going to be fun! Good luck gentlemen!!
