Southwest Junior Golf Tour
Event #11 Pine Hills GC
Monday July 20th, 2015
Par 72 Yardage 6782
This had to be the kinda day Mark Twain had in mind when he wrote Huckleberry Finn! Just a perfect summer day to create memories that would last a life time or as Twain also thought, play golf and spoil a good walk! The Southwest Junior Golf Tour chose to play golf and make great use of such a wonderful day! Pine Hills GC was in great shape, birdies were flying, and as usual hole #18 was a great splash among the tour members!
Boys 16-18 Jimmy Clark (North Olmsted) came out firing on all cylinders after his Match Play Championship victory and carded an even par 72 to take the medalist honors. Four players shot 77 to secure second through fourth place. Tyler Lajko (North Olmsted), Brandon Netzel (North Ridgeville), Josh Hodges (Strongsville), and Austin Jenkins (North Royalton). Jimmy’s win moved him 20 points ahead of Austin in the Player of Year standings. With only one event remaining the POY has become a two person race, against two of the best competitors the SWGT has ever had. Good luck gentlemen!
Boys 14-15 Jake Moraca (Strongsville) returned to the SWGT this week and carded a 1 over par 73 to capture his second SWGT title of the season. David Laib (Wadsworth) was hot on Jake’s heels with his 75 and best finish of the season taking second place. Winning a three way scorecard playoff was Jacob Shook (North Royalton) coming off his runner up finish at the Match Play Championship. Fourth place was shared by Sean Zach (Brecksville) and Ross Scherler (Medina). Both matched Jacob’s 78. Luke Seelie (North Olmsted) did enough to maintain his hold on the top POY spot. He has a 100 point advantage with 120 points available to the Founders Cup Champion. Good luck gentlemen!
Girls 16-18 Madison Butler (Hinckley) shot 75 for a two shot victory over Loren Kreider (Westlake) 77, and four better than Christina Williams (Medina) 79. Alyson Wohlleber (Strongsville) carded an 82 to take fourth place and Erin Sheehan (Rocky River) shot 92 for fifth. Sixth place was shared by Summer Nicholas (North Royalton) and Madison Gardner (Avon) with 95’s. Loren has all but wrapped up the Player of the Year but by the high level golf being played by all these young ladies, this Fall is going to be very exciting! Great work ladies! Keep it up!
Girls 13-15 Marina Wilson (Avon Lake) played a wonderful round of golf to win the medalist honors over with a score of 90 over fellow Avon Laker, Paighton Masterson who shot 99. Rachel Hetman (North Olmsted) carded 101 for third place. While Madison Skok (Westlake) took fourth with 102. Meghan Allman (Olmsted Falls) fired 105 for fifth place and Meleana Santivasci (Medina) and Shannon Sullivan (Westlake) rounded out the top 6 with their 109’s. Week after week this entire group keeps getting better and better. Wonderful dedication, work, and effort! Everyone keep it up!!
Boys 12-13 Dylan Champney (Sheffield Village) got lucky number 7 win today as his 94 was just good enough to claim the victory. Liam Doyle (Rocky River), making his SWGT debut, fired 97 to take second place. Third place was shared by Charles Beatty (Berea) and John Galik (Brecksville) with 107’s. Rounding out the top 5 was Jack Vichill (Westlake) with 113. Week after week these guys keep pushing each other and supporting each other as they continue on their quest to be the best golfers that they can be. Good stuff to watch and appreciate. Outstanding effort gentlemen!
