Southwest Junior Golf Tour
Event #9 Pleasant Valley GC
Monday July 13th, 2015
Par 72 Yardage 6912
What a beautiful day! The sun was bright, the temperature was perfect, the breeze was soft, Pleasant Valley GC was in wonderful shape, and the play was stunning! The speed of the greens today were as fast as the tour has ever seen them and they rolled as true as ever! 7:30am comes very early in the morning but the energy and enthusiasm that came with each Southwest Junior Golf Tour member this morning made it feel like a brand new Chipolte just opened up around the corner!
Boys 16-18 Blake Rudy (North Royalton) quietly but with extreme confidence shot 74 and was today’s medalist. He bested his Hinckley neighbor, Chad Dubiel by two(76), and Jimmy Clark (North Olmsted) by three(77). Austin Jenkins (North Royalton) added to his leading Player of the Year total with a fourth place 78. Rounding out the top five were the Onorato bothers, Michael and Joe (North Royalton) who both carded an 81. Three more titles are on the line before the Player of the Year is awarded. Good luck gentlemen!
Boys 14-15 Ben Brej (Rocky River) snatched a victory away from Player of the Year leader Luke Seelie (North Olmsted) by winning a scorecard playoff by one shot after both had carded 77’s. Connor Thomas (Medina) held on to third place by making a solid par 5 on his final hole to shot 80. Max Toom (Brunswick) finished his back nine with 6 straight pars to card 81 and take fourth place. Highlight of the day was Jake “CASH” Frey hitting a tree and then finding the green at the par 3 17th for win the proximity prize. Awesome! Good work by all!
Girls 16-18 Player of the Year points leader, Loren Kreider (Westlake) took some time off last week but came back this week a solid 83, that included three pars to finish her round of 83. Nikki Johnson (Cleveland) shot 91 to take second place. Third place went to Rachael Sladky (North Olmsted) 100. Fourth place at 103 was Summer Nicholas (North Royalton). Summer may have the very best name for golf! Kaylie Kemenyes (Independence) carded 112 for fifth place. Making her SWGT debut, McKenna DiCapua shot 116 to take sixth place. Welcome and great to you and all the ladies!
Girls 13-15 Marina Wilson (Avon Lake) started her first nine with 3 5’s then started her back nine with 4 5’s on her way to medalist honors with a 98. Rachel Hetman (North Olmsted) fought hard for her 103 and claimed second place. Back of Rachel, by only a shot, 104, was Meleana Santivasci (Medina) who parred the difficult 18. Ericka Marano (Brunswick) was consistent as she whent 55-55 110 to secure fourth place. Makayla Sheehan (Rocky River) held on with a 113 to round out the top five. Outstanding work ladies!
Boys 12-13 Dylan Champney (Sheffield Village) secured another title by shooting 95 today. I hot pursuit was Jack Vichill (Westlake) 99, second place and Charles Beatty (Berea) 104 third place. The level of play among these young men has gone up over the past few weeks. Dylan raised the bar and his fellow competitors have taken up the challenge. Jack was only one of the few players today to fine the green on the, always dangerous, par 3 14th. His efforts won him the proximity prize. A little more conventional than Jake’s but spectacular none the less. Keep up the good work men!
