Southwest Junior Golf Tour
Event #7 Rawiga CC
Tuesday June 30th, 2015
Par 72 Yardage 6711
As this summary is being created the sky is dark, bolts of lightening are streaking across it, thunder is thunderous, and the rain is falling. The Southwest Junior Golf Tour sneaked one in on Mother Nature today. Rawiga CC was wet but in great shape. Hitting the fairway, though, was critical with lift, clean, and place in play for today’s conditions. Scoring was difficult as there was very little roll and divots were exploding all over the golf course.
Boys 16-18 Nick Brunsman (Independence) was a fairway hitting machine which helped him on his way to medalist honors with a 76. Sloshing their ways to 79’s were Chad Dubiel (Hinckley) and Brian Tucci (Rocky River). Chad won the scorecard playoff by a shot. Michael and Joe Onorato (North Royalton) battled the field and each other to a tie for fourth place with 81’s. Good work gentlemen under less than perfect conditions.
Boys 14-15 Ben Gleichauf (North Olmsted) is heating up even if the temperature outside will not. Ben’s 74 led the field by 8 shots. Connor Thomas (Medina) secured second place with a 40 foot eagle putt on hole #3 and an 82. Luke Seelie (North Olmsted) stayed patient and carded an 83 for third place. Jacob Shook (North Royalton) took fourth place with 85. Cameron MacLellan (Medina) secured the proximity prize today by getting it just inside of Jacob Henyey (Brecksville) after Jacob had just it to about 25 feet and made the putt for birdie. Good work gentlemen!
Girls 16-18 Madison Butler (Hinckley) took dead aim at fairways and greens to card an even par 72 and take medalist honors. Hot on her heels was Loren Kreider (Westlake) who fired 77 to secure second place. Third place went to Christina Williams (Medina) who took some time away from shooting free throws to shoot 81. Lauren Winterhalter (Lakewood) claimed fourth place by shooting 91. Wonderful effort ladies!
Girls 13-15 Marina Wilson (Avon Lake) took another title by shooting 98 today. Alyson Kovach (Strongsville) battled for the top spot but came up just short with 107. Ericka Marano (Brunswick) secured third place with her 115. Rosemary Zaleski tried to slide into that spot but had to settle for fourth with 118. Makayla Sheehan rounded out the top 5 with a 122. A very long and wet walk today that each handled with grittiness and grace.
