Par 65 Yardage 4745
Saturday June 21st, 2014
Well the first day of summer came in like a lion and ended like a lamb. The morning was cool, dark, wet, and looked like it was not going to let up but noon the sun was shining, birds were chirping, and the cranes were looking for lunch. The Member-Adult Championship is one of the most nerve racking events that the SWGT has every year. Watching moms and dads have to make 3 footers, not only for themselves but for their kids, is very entertaining. There was some wonderful play, from both old and young, and wonderful memories created for all!
BOYS 16-18 Nicholas Adams (Parma Heights) and Jonathan Klinc shot a 1-under par 64 to take first place. Nicholas and Jonathan were former teammates at Valley Forge High School. Team work does make a difference! Austin Jenkins (North Royalton) and his father Don shot 68 to take second place and allow Austin to take the lead in the Player of the Year competition. Though Father’s Day has passed, Austin might me out picking up another card to give to dad!
BOYS 14-15 Jimmy Clark (North Olmsted) teamed up with his mom, Peggy, and they were able to secure a one shot victory (70) over Evan Stackhouse (Berea),his partner Adam Odon and Connor Thomas (Medina) and his father Gregory (71). Ms. Clark and Mr. Thomas also secured the proximity prizes for the adult participants. Nice shooting!! Jimmy’s win allowed him to take sole possession of first place in the Player of the Year competition!
GIRLS 16-18 Madison Butler (Hinckley) teamed up with her father Pete to shoot a 1-under par 64 to snatch the title from team Santabarbara (66). Mr. Butler would have received the best outfit award had there been such a prize. Fantastic look for the winning team. Jenny Santabarbara (Seven Hills) and her dad, Sam, took second with a great team effort. Though Jenny might have been the team’s leader. Hallie Schuld (Medina) teamed up with former SWGT standout Steve Schniegenberger to shoot 68 and finish third and allow Hallie to maintain control of first place in the Player of the Year competition.
BOYS 12-13 Jake Moraca (Strongsville) and Tim Moraca captured the title with a nice 69 to Jacob and James Henyey’s (Brecksville) 72. Their battle came down to the last few holes as the Moraca’s were clinging to a one shot lead with 3 holes to play. With strong play coming from both they were able to pull away with a couple of nice shots and a few clutch putts. Congratulations! The win alloed Jake to jump up to first place in the Player of the Year competition.
Great playing everyone and thank you to all the adults who came out to support your own junior golfer and the entire membership of the Southwest Junior Golf Tour. On to the Western Rodeo, Forest Hills GC and Grey Hawk GC.
