Event#2 303 Classic
Cherokee Hills/Cossett Creek GC’s
Monday/Tuesday June 9th/10, 2014
The race to the Founders Cup and Players of the Year is on!!!!
BOYS 16-18 Kyle McCafferty from Westlake opened up the 303 Classic with a 2 under par 68 at Cherokee Hills and followed it up with a birdie/par finish at Cossett Creek for a 79, two day total of 147, and a victory! Austin Jenkins stayed consistent with back to back rounds of 76, good for second place. This age group is loaded with wonderful players, that will make becoming Player of the Year a great udertaking. Good luck to all!
BOYS 14-15 Three players were tied at 75 after round #1 so the title was up for grabs. Jimmy Clark from North Olmsted was up to the challenge as he shot the second lowest round of the day, 74 which allowed him to secure a 6 shot victory. Ross Scherler moved up 4 spots to take 2nd place by shooting the low round of the day, 73. Again, there is some wonderful talent in this age group and Player of the Year will be a fight! Good luck to all!
GIRLS 16-18 Loren Kreider from Westlake, tied for low round of the day with an 81 but it was not enough to over take Karly Alexander from Hinckley, who opened the event with a fantastic 75 and added an 87 for hold for a 4 shot victory over the ever consistent (82/84) Hallie Schuld of Medina. This race will be an exciting one all the way to the end! Good luck ladies!
GIRLS 13-15 New tour member Sophia Trombetta of Independence, put her skills on display at the 303 Classic and they are impressive. Rounds of 80 and 81 were good enough for a 7 shot victory. Christina Williams of Medina, did well to keep pace with rounds of 85 and a wonderful round of 83 today. This age group is full of great competitors that will put up a good fight for the title of Player of the Year. Good luck ladies!
BOYS 12-13 Max Toom of Brunswick, struggled coming in today on the tough back nine of Cossett Creek but he was able to hold on and fend off Adam Cook of Amherst. Max shot rounds of 86 and 89 to take the title by 2 shots. These guys might be the last to tee off but they are not the least by any stretch of the imagination. 3 of the best drives on the par 5 9th hole could be found in this group today. Colin McClowry’s (Medina) drive was so straight that it came just inches away from striking the blue stake, as it rolled past it, in the middle of the fairway that indicates the yardage of 200 yards from the green. As the ad goes, “These guys are good!”
